T: In this lesson we’ll listen to a passage about important Chinese inventions. Present some words in Exercise 1 on the screen and ask the students which words will be
mentioned. Listen and check.

Step2 Listening and Vocabulary
Listen to the tape again and match the dates with the inventions. (Exercise 2) Check the answers with the whole class.

Get the Ss to think of three twentieth-century inventions to do with travel, such as plane, car and bicycle; and three twentieth-century inventions to do with food and cooking, such as the use of natural gas, the appearance of steamed-boiled food and fridge.
2) Ask the Ss to discuss with their partners, and they should give reasons to practice giving reasons.
The teacher can ask the students to make up a short dialogue and act them out if time permits. Step5 Homework

听说课是英语教学中非常重要的环节。学生通过预学,了解了要听的练习材料,很顺利地完成了本部分的教学任务,既练习了听力,又增长了知识。
